Governor Mike Braun has signed House Enrolled Act (HEA) 1149 into law, aiming to bolster Indiana's agricultural sector. This move is part of his Freedom and Opportunity Agenda, which promises to support Hoosier farmers by streamlining access to essential resources.
The legislation mandates the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) to create a centralized online portal. This platform will serve as a comprehensive resource for farmers, offering information on funding opportunities, market data, technical support, and regulatory guidance. The initiative aligns with Governor Braun's commitment to reducing bureaucratic hurdles and empowering the farming community in Indiana.
Indiana GOP Chairwoman Lana Keesling praised the governor's efforts: “Governor Mike Braun campaigned on a clear vision to support Hoosier farmers—and today, he’s delivering. With the signing of HEA 1149, Indiana’s farmers will now have easier access to the tools they need to grow and succeed. Our agriculture community knows Governor Braun has always had their back, and this is just the beginning of what he will accomplish for rural Indiana.”
The enactment of HEA 1149 marks a significant step in advancing the interests of rural communities within the state.
