Wellness Council announces Hoosier Health champions

The Wellness Council of Indiana (WCI), a subsidiary of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, has announced the winners of the 2024 Hoosier Health and Well-Being Champion Awards. Jenny Sanders, benefits and wellness coordinator at School City of Mishawaka, and Molly McGuire, Muncie area supervisor for Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation at Family and Social Services, have been recognized for their contributions to health and well-being in workplace and community settings.

Jenny Sanders has been named the Hoosier Health and Well-Being Workplace Champion. She has demonstrated dedication to creating a healthy work environment for over 700 employees at School City of Mishawaka. Through her leadership, she has implemented health and wellness programs that focus on both physical and mental well-being. Sanders organizes workshops, fitness challenges, and educational sessions to promote healthy living among her colleagues.

“Jenny exemplifies leadership in promoting a healthy workplace,” says Kory A. LaBonne, director of human resources and school safety at School City of Mishawaka. “Her initiatives inspire her colleagues to prioritize their overall well-being.”

Molly McGuire is recognized as the Hoosier Health and Well-Being Community Champion. She advocates for community health by promoting vital health resources, guiding individuals through wellness programs, and assisting those facing health-related challenges. McGuire fosters collaboration across various sectors to enhance resources for individuals with disabilities.

“Molly embodies the spirit of community service and advocacy,” shares Christopher Wray, HIRE coordinator for Region 6 at the Indiana Department of Correction. “Her passion for helping others and proactive approach have made a significant impact on many lives.”

Jennifer Pferrer, Executive Director of WCI, concludes: “Jenny and Molly truly illustrate the dedication to health and well-being that these awards celebrate. Their efforts have not only transformed workplace culture but also strengthened community connections, inspiring others to prioritize health and wellness.”
