U.S. Senator Todd Young has commended the passage of the Healthcare Cybersecurity Act, a bipartisan piece of legislation he co-introduced with Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), by the U.S. Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee earlier this month.
“I am pleased that this bill to improve cybersecurity in health care received strong support at the committee level, and I urge the full Senate to pass this bipartisan bill soon,” said Senator Young.
In recent years, hospitals and other healthcare facilities in Indiana and across America have faced a significant rise in cyberattacks. The Healthcare Cybersecurity Act aims to enhance cybersecurity measures within the healthcare and public health sectors in response to these severe cyber threats. The proposed legislation seeks to fortify cybersecurity infrastructure and safeguard patients' personal data more effectively.
The bill passed the committee with a 10-1 vote and now proceeds to the full Senate for further consideration.
