Butler Track & Field Schedule Hits the Starting Blocks This Weekend

Butler's 2022-23 track and field schedule will feature a number of prominent meets, beginning with action this weekend.

The Bulldogs announced the complete 2022-23 schedule Thursday, Dec. 1.

The team opens the indoor season Friday at the Blue & Gold Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. On Saturday, three Bulldogs will travel to Boston for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.

One year ago in Boston, Barry Keane set the Ireland national record for an indoor 5,000 meters, topping the Butler school record in the process as well.

Keane will once again toe the line in the top section of the elite 5,000 meters. Teammate Jesse Hamlin is part of the top section of the 3,000 meters. Angelina Ellis will make her 2022 debut in the 3,000 meters.

The Bulldogs will compete once more prior to the New Year when the team travels to Chicago Friday, Dec. 9 for the Blue Demon Holiday Invite.

Butler's indoor season culminates in Chicago at the BIG EAST Championships Feb. 24-25. The NCAA Indoor Championships are scheduled for Albuquerque, N.M. March 10-11.

The outdoor season begins March 17 with the Blizzard Buster in Oxford, Ohio. The outdoor campaign continues with a number of strong national meets, including the Raleigh Relays (March 23-25), the Mt. SAC Relays and Bryan Clay Invitational in California (April 12-14), and the Drake Relays (April 26-28).

Built around those are a number of other opportunities for Bulldogs to secure qualifying times for the BIG EAST Outdoor Championships May 12-13 on the Villanova campus and the NCAA East Regionals, which are slated for May 24-27 in Jacksonville, Fla.
