House Republicans have proposed property tax relief reforms in Indiana, including changes to the business personal property tax. Indiana Chamber President and CEO Vanessa Green Sinders expressed support for the initiative.
Sinders stated, “Indiana’s business personal property tax has long been an impediment to growth, penalizing investment and placing our employers at a disadvantage compared to those in neighboring states. The reforms announced today represent meaningful progress toward a more modern, competitive tax structure."
She referenced an analysis conducted with Ernst & Young, noting, “Our analysis with Ernst & Young found that eliminating the tax on new equipment could yield up to $3.1 billion in state GDP growth and create thousands of jobs. This is a smart, forward-looking policy decision that will benefit businesses across the state and support continued investment in Indiana’s economy. We commend legislative leaders for their work to improve the competitiveness of our tax climate.”
The Indiana Chamber's public affairs team is open for interviews regarding policy matters and upcoming legislation. Matt Ottinger is the point of contact for inquiries.
