The Indiana Chamber of Commerce is calling on state lawmakers to maintain the advancements achieved with the recently amended House Bill 1003. Vanessa Green Sinders, the Chamber's President and CEO, emphasized the importance of the bill in delivering faster, fairer, and more transparent medical care while managing costs for patients and employers.
"The Indiana Chamber applauds the Senate Health and Provider Services Committee for its unanimous support of the amended version of House Bill 1003," said Sinders. "The revised bill thoughtfully addresses many of the concerns we raised during testimony and represents meaningful progress toward improving healthcare transparency, access and accountability in Indiana."
Key elements of the bill include enhancements in pricing transparency, reforms to prior authorization rules, protections against surprise billing, and simplification of credentialing processes to enhance workforce mobility. "These are practical reforms that simplify the system and improve patient access," Sinders added.
As House Bill 1003 proceeds to the Senate Appropriations Committee, Sinders urged the committee and the full Senate to safeguard these crucial changes. "House Bill 1003, as amended, reflects a balanced and pragmatic approach to improving Indiana’s healthcare system," she remarked.
