The Indiana Chamber of Commerce has outlined its top legislative priorities for the 2025 session, focusing on property tax reforms, workforce development, and other key areas. These goals are part of the Chamber's visioning plan, Indiana Prosperity 2035 (IP35). A recent survey among member companies identified economic growth and workforce development as critical areas needing attention.

Vanessa Green Sinders, president and CEO of the Chamber, emphasized collaboration with lawmakers and Governor-elect Braun to advance bills aligned with IP35. "Together, these actions are what will enable Indiana to rise even higher on the list of best states to do business," she stated.

The priorities include ensuring property tax reforms benefit all payers without burdening businesses. The Chamber also advocates for establishing a state Office of Entrepreneurship to support small businesses and expanding economic initiatives statewide. Sinders remarked that providing business personal property tax relief is crucial for long-term economic growth.

In workforce development, the focus is on attracting talent and increasing labor force participation by enhancing career education pathways. Sinders highlighted upskilling homegrown talent as vital for economic competitiveness.

Healthcare cost containment and expanding access to childcare and housing are also prioritized under healthy communities. Sinders supports increasing Indiana’s cigarette tax to improve public health outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.

Infrastructure improvements remain a priority, with emphasis on sustainable funding for roads and bridges. Sinders noted that reliable infrastructure is essential for maintaining Indiana's position in logistics and commerce.

The Chamber plans to release further policy details in its Legislative Analysis document later this month.
