On Saturday, U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) participated in a panel discussion at the Reagan National Defense Forum. The event is an annual gathering of national security leaders and stakeholders.
The focus of the panel was on modernizing the nation's defense capabilities. Young emphasized the need to surpass the Chinese Communist Party in biotechnology and artificial intelligence to maintain a technological advantage for America's warfighters and ensure the safety of American families. He also gave a preview of upcoming findings and recommendations from the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology, where he serves as Chair.
Joining Young on the panel were General David W. Allvin, Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force; Joe Lonsdale, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at 8VC; Heidi Shyu, U.S. Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering; and Toni Townes-Whitley, CEO of SAIC. The discussion was moderated by Sharon Weinberger, National Security Editor at the Wall Street Journal.
