U.S. Senators Todd Young and Laphonza Butler have announced the unanimous Senate approval of a bill to produce commemorative coins for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to take place in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. This bipartisan legislation, previously passed by the House, is now awaiting the President's signature.

The coins will be minted without additional taxpayer expense, with proceeds directed toward supporting U.S.-based soccer programs aimed at youth and underserved communities.

"As a co-chair of the Congressional Soccer Caucus and an avid soccer fan, I am excited to welcome the FIFA Men’s World Cup back to the United States for the first time in over three decades. Our bill will preserve the legacy of the 2026 World Cup and support soccer programs across America," said Senator Young.

Senator Butler added, "In two years, soccer fans from around the world will come to the United States, Canada, and Mexico to witness history at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Californians are excited to host 14 matches in Los Angeles and San Francisco, and we welcome soccer fans everywhere to the Golden State. I am proud to co-lead the FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act with Senator Young to mark this momentous occasion and help grow ‘the beautiful game’ among our nation’s youth."

The legislation was also sponsored in the House by Representatives Darin LaHood, Rick Larsen, Don Bacon, and Kathy Castor—all co-chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus.

Congress is authorized each year to produce two commemorative coins celebrating major American events while raising funds for significant causes. The FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act allows for $5 gold coins, $1 silver coins, and half-dollar clad coins honoring this international event.

The planning for this World Cup is managed by FWC2026 US Inc., a not-for-profit organization. Proceeds from coin sales will benefit U.S.-based soccer initiatives focusing on youth development in inner cities and underserved areas.
