Campfire Walk with Indiana Humanities on Sept. 10

An afternoon of nature and discussion

Saturday, September 10

2:00pm - 4:00pm

Connect with nature, with literature, and with others on this special trek through a beautiful piece of our Indiana landscape. Event concludes with snacks & beer around a campfire.

Join CCPL and Indiana Humanities for a trek through the Nonie Werbe Krauss Nature Preserve as we think, read, and talk about our Indiana landscape. During the walk, we’ll learn to identify various Indiana species while reading passages that encourage us to connect with our Hoosier environment and help us understand how we affect our surroundings and how they affect us.

This trek will be co-led by a humanities scholar and a naturalist. Along the way, we'll stop to read short writings by nature writers before concluding the journey with shared snacks and discussion around a campfire.

THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND:

  • Please bring a reusable water bottle to take with you on the outing.
  • We will send a final confirmation two days before the event with driving and parking instructions and any other updates.
  • In case of inclement weather, Indiana Humanities will cancel the event and alert you via email at least two hours prior to event start time.
  • Campfire walk is designed for ages 21 and up.
ABOUT THE CAMPFIRES

Indiana Humanities’ Campfires pair nature and literature to spark conversations about Indiana’s future. This year’s series is made possible by generous funding from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust. Indiana Humanities is proud to be a part of a consortium of Central Indiana organizations helping Hoosiers to access and appreciate the White River. They are also grateful to friends at Upland Brewing Co. for providing delicious, cold beer for participants.
