Staff Spotlight: Carmel Middle School Staff Save Life

Thanks to the quick action and life-saving equipment and training provided, Mr. Kevin Vogt and Mr. Darren Monke saved a man's life last week at the Carmel Middle School football game.

During the season opener, a fan from the opposing team suffered a medical emergency and was unresponsive following initial medical intervention attempts. Mr. Vogt witnessed the commotion and quickly leaped the fence to reach the man in the stands and continue CPR.

Mr. Monke grabbed the nearest Automated External Defibrillator (AED) and provided it to a parent identified as a nurse, who was able to resuscitate the man. First responders arrived quickly to transport the man to the hospital.

Carmel Clay Schools staff is dedicated to safety and empowered to trust their training to act when needed. Thanks to quick action and the distribution of life-saving equipment, including AEDs, Mr. Vogt and Mr. Monke were in the right place at the right time to save a life.
