U.S. Senator Todd Young appeared on Fox News' "The Story with Martha MacCallum" to highlight the significance of biotechnology in relation to American national security. He discussed the ongoing competition between the United States and China in this field.

Recently, the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology submitted a report to Congress urging a focus on biotechnology to uphold U.S. leadership over China, support American manufacturing, and enhance supply chain resilience. Senator Young chairs the Commission.

Senator Young stated, "What we outline in the report that we released today is that biotechnology is a critical sector with national security and economic competition implications, and the Chinese are indeed catching up." He further noted, "China is investing heavily in biotechnology, and the U.S. cannot afford to get left behind. Our dangerous dependence on China for our most critical supplies makes us vulnerable. We need to promote American innovation and manufacturing in biotech to end China’s global supply chain grip."
