Indiana Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Vanessa Green Sinders has shared her thoughts on Governor Mike Braun's inaugural State of the State address.
Sinders highlighted the advantages of having a business leader like Braun at the helm, noting his focus on efficiency and opportunity. "It’s so advantageous for Indiana to have a successful business leader as the state’s chief executive, looking for efficiencies, being bold and seizing opportunities," she stated. She expressed optimism that this approach would enhance Indiana's competitiveness and benefit both businesses and residents.
Sinders agreed with Braun's emphasis on big ideas and collaboration, citing two key agenda items: the Hoosier Workforce Investment Tax Credit and the establishment of the Office of Entrepreneurship. She described these initiatives as potential catalysts for workforce development and increased entrepreneurial activity in the state. "The Hoosier Workforce Investment Tax Credit would serve as a big catalyst for businesses to invest in the development of their workers and for those individuals to then earn higher wages," Sinders said. Additionally, she noted that establishing an Office of Entrepreneurship could significantly boost small business support.
Addressing concerns about rising property taxes, Sinders acknowledged Braun's recognition of this issue affecting homeowners and businesses. She urged consideration of equitable reforms that provide relief while supporting sustainable communities. "As action is being considered, the Indiana Chamber encourages the administration and Legislature to prioritize equitable, transparent reforms that balance relief for all taxpayers with the need for strong, sustainable communities," she remarked.
In conclusion, Sinders expressed eagerness to collaborate with Governor Braun and lawmakers on these topics to make Indiana an attractive place to live and work. "We look forward to working with the Governor and lawmakers on these issues and a variety of policies to make the state a place where even more people want to live and work," she concluded.
