The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), a prominent advocate for small businesses in Indiana, has urged the state's General Assembly to focus on supporting small enterprises during the current legislative session. NFIB Indiana State Director Natalie Robinson issued a statement emphasizing the importance of maintaining policies that favor small business growth.

"As the Indiana General Assembly convenes in Indianapolis, small businesses encourage the Legislature to continue passing pro-small business policies to keep Indiana a great state to own and operate a small business," Robinson stated. "Our small businesses benefit from policies that ignite economic growth and keep costly mandates at a minimum. We look forward to working with members of the Indiana Legislature and Governor-elect Braun this session."

The NFIB outlined five key policy priorities for this legislative period: preventing tax increases on small businesses, reducing health care costs and burdens for these enterprises, preventing hikes in energy costs, stopping new transportation funding fees from affecting small employers, and eliminating unnecessary regulations for entrepreneurs.

Recent research by NFIB indicates an increase in optimism among small business owners, reaching its highest level since June 2021. The net percentage of owners expecting economic improvement jumped 41 points from October to a net 36%, marking the most optimistic outlook since June 2020.
