The Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) has announced the appointment of Scott B. Tittle, J.D., as its new president. Tittle will assume his role on November 25, 2024, following a nationwide search to fill the position at the trade association representing over 170 hospitals in Indiana.
Steve Holman, chair of the IHA Board of Directors and president and CEO of Union Health, expressed enthusiasm about Tittle's appointment. "We're excited to welcome Scott who brings extensive experience in association leadership and health care advocacy, with a deep understanding of the policies that shape our industry," Holman stated. He added that Tittle's passion for connecting with people and strengthening partnerships would help IHA continue improving health outcomes for Hoosiers.
Tittle comes from VIUM Capital, an Ohio-based financial services firm specializing in long-term care and senior housing lending, where he managed government relations and external affairs. Before VIUM Capital, he served as executive director of the National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) in Washington, D.C., and as president of the Indiana Health Care Association/Indiana Center for Assisted Living (IHCA/INCAL) in Indianapolis. During his tenure at IHCA/INCAL, Tittle played a key role in implementing a value-based Medicaid reimbursement program for skilled nursing facilities.
Reflecting on his new role, Tittle said: "I have great respect for all that IHA has achieved through its advocacy and patient safety initiatives, which has helped more Hoosiers get access to the care they need." He looks forward to advancing IHA's mission by providing leadership and support collaboratively so that Indiana hospitals can focus on delivering affordable, high-quality care.
Tittle's background includes work as a healthcare attorney with Krieg DeVault LLP and serving as Special Counsel and Health Policy Director to former Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels. Under Governor Daniels's administration, Tittle successfully advocated for a cigarette tax increase funding the Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP).
He holds a law degree from Indiana University Maurer School of Law and bachelor's degrees in English and political science from Vanderbilt University.
As IHA's sixth president over its 103-year history, Tittle succeeds Blake Dye. Dye has served as interim president since May after Brian Tabor stepped down. Holman thanked Dye for his service during this transition period: “Because of Blake's steady leadership...IHA has continued to support Indiana's hospitals during this crucial time."
