Women more prevalent than men in Indiana in 2021

Of the 6,751,340 people living in Indiana in 2021, 50.5% (3,406,980) were women and 49.5% (3,344,360) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by Hoosier State Today.

Data showed the average age for women in Indiana in 2021 was 39 years, lower than the national average of 40 for women. Meanwhile, Indiana's male population stands at an average age of 37 years, placing them lower than the US average of 38.

According to census data, despite women being more prevalent in Indiana during 2021, men aged 18 and over outnumbered women in the same age group by 11,196, totaling 2,056,451 individuals. Meanwhile, in the 65 and over group, there were 472,493 men and 585,054 women.
