4.7% of citizens in Indiana unemployed in 2021

Indiana's unemployment rate hit 4.7% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That's 160,490 people out of the 6,751,340 living in Indiana at the time, according to data U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26, 2023.

The unemployment rate in Indiana has remained fairly stable compared to the 4.7% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Indiana was less than the national unemployment rate of 5.5%.

Of the 3,255,681 people who had a job during that time, 4,758 were employed in the Armed Forces and 3,250,923 belonged to the civilian labor force.
