Recording its seventh shutout of the season, the DePauw women's soccer team held off the Wittenberg University Tigers 1-0 to secure a spot in the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. DePauw improves to 9-4-3 overall with a 4-2 conference record, while Wittenberg drops to 2-9-6 overall and 1-2-3 in conference play.
DePauw's game-winning goal came in the 29th minute of play when Jess Purtee played it back to Anissa Nourse, who then kicked a rocket at the Wittenberg Tigers' Wisniewski, who got a piece of the ball but couldn't stop the shot from ricocheting into the net.
Though the DePauw Tigers finished with just one goal for the night, they controlled the pace of the game and kept possession of the ball for most of the match.
DePauw outshot Wittenberg 18-6 for the night and attempted seven corner kicks while only giving up two corners in its defensive end.
Emma St. John tallied two saves in goal, while Wittenberg's Katie Wisniewski recorded seven saves for the evening.
The DePauw Tigers return to Reavis Stadium for its final NCAC contest on Saturday, October 29, and play host to Hiram College at 5 p.m. EDT.
