Carmel Police hire department's first official crisis intervention manager

City of Carmel recently issued the following announcement.

The Carmel Police Department has hired its first official crisis intervention manager who is responsible for community mental health services coordination and management.

Hannah Cowles is originally from West Lafayette, IN and graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development in 2000. She earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from Aurora University in Illinois in 2005.

Cowles previously worked at the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) where she has served as a Policy Director since 2019. Prior to working at the BMV, she worked as a Deputy Section Chief for Indiana Department of Homeland Security from 2016 to 2019. Cowles and her husband have been residents of Carmel since 2013 and their two children attend Carmel schools.

In her new role, Cowles will be coordinating services for residents in need.
