Larry Bucshon, U.S. Representative for Indiana's 8th congressional district, is in support of fellow Republicans' House Resolution that supports Right-to-Work laws.
Bucshon is one of the more recent co-sponsors of U.S. Representative Dan Bishop’s legislation, H.Res. 620. He became the measure’s sponsor on Sept. 14.
“American workers should be free to do their jobs without Democrats forcing them to fund Leftist political causes,” Bishop said in his press release. “Right-to-Work laws are an important safeguard against this attack on freedom, and it’s why 27 states, including North Carolina, have implemented these laws.”
The resolution "reaffirms the importance of states’ Right to Work laws," which Bishop believes is important as Democrats prepare to vote forward a reconciliation package worth around $3.5 trillion.
A Right-to-Work law is that which prohibits companies and unions to require union membership as a condition of employment. Over 25 states have these laws on the books, Keystone Today reported.
Recently, Right-to-Work laws have been highlighted as a marker of economic success. Keystone Today cited an opinion column published by the Observer-Reporter, which indicated that states with Right-to-Work laws appear to be recovering their economies more quickly than those without.
The column cited an analysis by the Allegheny Institute for Public Policy.
Bucshon has been representing Indiana’s 8th Congressional District since 2011.
