Washington County Sheriff’s Department seeks applicants for 911 dispatcher positions

The Washington County Sheriff’s Department announced on May 15 that it is accepting applications for the position of 911 Dispatcher. The department said the application period will remain open until the roles are filled.

The hiring initiative aims to fill critical positions responsible for emergency communications within Washington County. Dispatchers play a key role in public safety by receiving and coordinating responses to emergency calls.

According to the announcement, the starting salary for new dispatchers is $40,392 per year. The department also offers paid holidays, vacation days, sick days, longevity pay, paid overtime, and flexible shift options with both eight- and twelve-hour shifts available. Employees have every other weekend off and can access health, dental, and vision insurance as well as a local health clinic.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or authorized to work in the United States. Additional requirements include having a high school diploma or GED equivalent, possessing a valid driver’s license, and passing both a drug screening and criminal background investigation.
