The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office announced on May 14 that both the Executive Session and Regular Session of the Merit Board scheduled for Tuesday, May 19, 2026, have been cancelled due to no business being necessary.

The cancellation means there will be no board meetings held on that date. The notice was issued in accordance with Indiana’s Open Door Law, which requires public notification of meeting changes.

According to the announcement, “Notice is hereby given of an Executive Session of the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Merit Board to be held on Tuesday, May 19th, 2026 is cancelled for no business being necessary.” The statement further adds that “notice is hereby given that the regular meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 19th, 2026 immediately following the Executive Session is cancelled for no business being necessary.”

Board members listed include Stephen Woodall (President), Rick Schnautz (Secretary), Stephen Brown, Jonathan Danks, and Ron Beane. The authority for this announcement comes from Sheriff Noah Robinson.

Indiana Code § 36-8-10-3 establishes the appointment process for sheriff’s merit boards in Indiana. No additional information about future meetings or rescheduling was provided in this notice.
