Prices for feeder steers ranged from $469.00 to $569.00 for 500-600 lbs at Valentine Livestock, while similar weight classes at Apache saw prices between $455.00 and $460.00. Feeder heifers were reported at $562.50 for 300-400 lbs in Valentine and up to $490.00 for 400-500 lbs in Apache.
The summary also included settlement data from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange showing live cattle futures ranging from Jun at 248.250 to Oct at 230.425, with corresponding changes noted for each contract month. The Chicago Board of Trade grain futures settlements listed corn July contracts closing at 4.4675 per bushel and soybeans July contracts closing at 11.8675 per bushel.
Additional data covered average slaughter cattle prices across five areas, boxed beef cutout values—with Choice cuts reported at $391.47—and daily estimated cattle slaughter numbers totaling an estimated 105,000 head on Friday.
