Nationally, the weighted average for negotiated barrow and gilt carcass base price was $93.23 with a change from the prior day of -$0.41. The head count reported was 1,425. In Iowa/Minnesota, the weighted average price was not reported due to confidentiality; however, Eastern Cornbelt figures showed a value of $105. The Western Cornbelt also did not report certain averages due to confidentiality rules.
The National Daily Pork Report FOB Plant showed carcass cutout values at 99.45 with a change of 0.34 from previous data. Primal loin was listed at 96.38 with an increase of 2.41 while primal butt decreased by -2.61 to reach 149.31. Other primal values included picnic at 79.48 (up by 1.21), rib at 184.46 (up by 1.75), ham at 83.49 (down by -1.70), and belly at 111.67 (down by -0.47). Total loads were reported as 406 with pork cuts making up approximately 350 loads.
Estimated daily hog slaughter under federal inspection stood at approximately 477,000 head for Friday with Saturday’s estimate at around 253,000 head; week-to-date estimates reached about 1,890,000 head compared to last week’s same period total of over two million head.
