Total loads reported were over 335.
Estimated daily hog slaughter under federal inspection reached approximately 476,000 head for May 28; this figure matched year-ago actuals but was down from last week’s estimate of about 484,000 head for the same period.
For the week ending Saturday, May 16, total hogs slaughtered under federal inspection numbered more than two million across all categories: barrows/gilts made up over ninety-seven percent; sows accounted for about two-and-a-half percent; boars comprised less than one percent.
