According to the report, the national weighted average carcass base price was $93.58 per hundredweight with a change of minus $0.18 from the prior day. In Iowa/Minnesota, the weighted average was $92.98 per hundredweight with a decrease of $1.74 from the previous day. The Western Cornbelt reported a weighted average of $93.58 per hundredweight with a drop of $0.59 from earlier figures; Eastern Cornbelt figures were not reported due to confidentiality restrictions.
Pork cutout values also saw modest changes: the national carcass cutout value stood at $95.64 per hundredweight with an increase of $0.17 from prior reporting periods. Specific primal cuts such as loin, butt, picnic, rib, ham and belly were detailed alongside their respective weekly averages and changes.
Daily hog slaughter under federal inspection was estimated at 478,000 head for May 21 while week-to-date estimates reached nearly 1.9 million head—similar to levels seen last year during this period according to USDA Livestock, Poultry & Grain Market News.
