The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) has recognized Rep. Stephen Bartels with its Guardian of Small Business Award, acknowledging his efforts in supporting small businesses in Indiana. This award stands as NFIB's highest accolade for legislators who advocate for the interests of small enterprises.

Natalie Robinson, the NFIB Indiana State Director, explained the decision, stating, "We are proud to recognize Rep. Bartels today as a top small business supporter and as a Guardian of Small Business." She highlighted his efforts over the past years to advance significant legislation aimed at minimizing excessive regulations, enhancing transparency and efficiencies in government, and offering greater protections to Indiana's businesses and citizens. Robinson expressed gratitude for Bartels' dedication: "We are thankful for Rep. Bartels’ hard work and are excited to work alongside him next session to continue cutting bureaucratic red tape."
