On Sunday, Drew Lutz of the Bethel Men's Basketball team was selected for the top 100 watch list for the 2023 Bevo Francis Award.
The watch list includes all small college Men's Basketball programs across the country between NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA Divisions I and II, and NCCAA Divisions I and II.
The list gets slimmed down until a finalist is chosen on Apr. 3. The committee for the Bevo Francis Award considers season statistics, individual achievements, awards, personal character, and team achievements throughout the season.
Lutz is among six other Crossroads League players chosen for the top 100, and the top 50 watch list will be released on Feb. 15. The top 25 will be released on Mar. 15, and the finalists will be announced on Apr. 1.
At this point of the season, Lutz is averaging 21.4 points per game, shooting 43% from the floor and 43% from beyond the three-point arc. Lutz leads the team in assists, averaging 6.2 per game with an assist/turnover ratio of 4.5.
This season Lutz has been awarded two Crossroads League Player of the Week awards and two NCCAA Player of the Week accolades.
