Late goal lifts women's soccer over Defiance

The Earlham College women's soccer team recorded a goal in the final two minutes of regulation to edge out Defiance College 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Quakers improved to 3-4-2 (1-2 HCAC) while the Yellow Jackets fell to 3-8 (0-3 HCAC).

Earlham dominated time of possession and outshot the visiting squad 25-1, with 11 shots on goal. The Quakers also held Defiance without a corner kick in the contest.

Noelle Hooper stepped up for her fifth corner kick of the game in the 88th minute of play. Her kick swung toward the goal and was deflected by a Defiance defender into the back of the net.

Eva Lyon led the Quakers in shots with eight, and three on frame.

Makayla Hurey collected one save in the shutout effort in goal.

Earlham will continue its HCAC season at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm in Terre Haute.
