City of Carmel to present annual Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony
What:
The City of Carmel presents the 2022 Holocaust Remembrance Ceremony to commemorate those who were killed and the loved ones who suffered through the Holocaust.
When:
Friday, April 29 at noon. The ceremony will last approximately an hour and a half and will be followed by a light lunch.

The Tarkington Theater, 3 Carter Green, Carmel, IN 46032.

Join Mayor Jim Brainard, Rabbi Benjamin Sendrow of Congregation Shaarey Tefilla, Rabbi Justin Kerber of Congregation Beth Shalom and City Councilor Miles Nelson as they present special guest speakers and musical performances during this annual event.
Keynote speaker will be Laurie Freeman, a second generation survivor of the Holocaust, who will present her topic: “Through the Woods and Beyond.” As a daughter of a Holocaust survivor, she will be sharing insights about her father’s experience and what it means to be a second generation survivor.
Speaking on behalf of the Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Human Relations is Marianne Glick, whose father Eugene Glick served in the Army and was one of the liberators of the Dachau Concentration Camp at the end of World War II.
Musical performances will feature Arnie Lewin, Shaarey Tefilla member; the Carmel United Methodist Church Bell Choir; University High School of Indiana String Quartet; and Actors Theatre of Indiana with Cantor Melissa Cohen.

The Carmel commemoration is part of Yom Hashoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), an international holiday for remembering the victims of the Holocaust It reminds us, as Americans, of what can happen to civilized people when bigotry, hatred and indifference reign.
