In an effort to serve heightened interest in the Indiana Convention of States, a series of quarterly ‘round table’ events have been scheduled at the group’s YouTube channel.

State Director Dale Parrish made the announcement in light of increased interest since the beginning of the new year. Indiana membership currently stands at 55,000, with 5 million Convention of States members nationally. January state membership numbers increased 100% since January 2020.

"I attribute this to people frustrated as to what do we do now and what can we do now," Parrish previously told Hoosier State Today.

The Convention of States itself is a call for a convention of states under Article V of the Constitution. A minimum of 34 states are needed to call for a convention. To date, 15 states have passed resolutions, with Indiana passing its resolution in 2016. 

The convention is one of two ways to amend the Constitution, the other being through a vote of Congress followed by ratification by 38 states.

Thirty-four states are required to call a convention, with 38 states needed to ratify amendments proposed to the Constitution. It is important to note the goal of the COS is an amending convention rather than a constitutional convention.

In an effort to educate interested parties, the Indiana Convention of States will use its round table events to provide the latest updates on current events, issues and activities. Through the events, COS members will be able to meet leadership, while leadership will in turn communicate with leadership, media, legislators and the general public. 

Sessions will be one-hour Zoom meetings livestreamed on YouTube.
