Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers, said the arrest of two noncitizens from California with ICE holds in Indiana for hauling 300 pounds of cocaine in semi trucks underscores concerns about noncitizens driving commercial vehicles, adding that the licenses may have been obtained under policies enacted during Gov. Gavin Newsom’s administration.
“wow. illegal aliens driving trucks across america,” said Cortes, Founder and President. “bad enough on its own – unsafe and unfair to us drivers. but these two losers were also trafficking loads of drugs. probably got truck licenses (cdl’s) in gavin newsom’s reckless california, too.”
According to a report by the Indiana State Police, a routine inspection on Interstate 70 in Putnam County uncovered approximately 300 pounds of cocaine valued at $7 million hidden in a semi-truck’s sleeper berth. The drivers, identified as illegal aliens from California, face narcotics dealing charges and ICE holds as federal authorities investigate cross-state trafficking routes. Cortes linked this incident to licensing practices in California under Governor Newsom.
The United States issues over 500,000 commercial driver’s licenses annually, with states like California accounting for 12 percent through programs enabling non-citizens to obtain them. Federal data indicates about 4,000 drug seizures involving commercial vehicles each year, contributing to national losses exceeding $100 billion in illicit trade. Immigration enforcement has identified thousands of non-citizen truckers violating their status during traffic stops nationwide.
Cortes is also a senior political advisor to CatholicVote and a former senior advisor to President Trump and JD Vance. He is known for his commentary on Fox News and CNN and regularly releases documentaries and columns at cortesinvestigates.com.
