Andrean delivered one of its most complete performances of the season in a 10–2 win over Batavia
The game showcased Andrean’s early offense and steady pitching, which allowed the team to take control at Barfield Crescent Park and maintain their lead throughout the contest, according to Manual. The victory is significant as it demonstrates Andrean’s ability to combine strong hitting with consistent defense against non-conference opponents.
Andrean wasted no time, striking for four runs in the opening frame before adding three in the third and two in the fourth to build a lead Batavia couldn’t chase down. They out hit Batavia 14–5, committing no errors while keeping pressure on the Bulldogs throughout. Senior leadership powered the lineup. Sadie Drousias went 2 for 4 with two RBI and a home run, while Dani Poskin reached base twice and scored twice in a perfect 2 for 2 day. Freshman Alice Zygmuntowski added a breakout performance with two hits, two RBI, and a double. Ashlyn Hite matched that energy with two hits, two runs, and a homer of her own. In the circle, Drousias worked four strong innings, allowing just one run on two hits with four strikeouts. Poskin stepped in for the final two and kept Batavia quiet, yielding just one run while adding a strikeout.
Looking ahead, Andrean now turns its attention to a conference matchup at Hobart on April 17. This upcoming game will be a rematch of last year’s meeting on April 18, 2025, when the 59ers won 13–7.
