Vanderburgh County Sheriff Noah Robinson has been appointed by Governor Mike Braun to serve on the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board, according to an April 22 announcement.

The appointment places Robinson as the representative for county sheriffs in counties with a population of at least one hundred thousand. The board oversees the requirements and standards for basic and in-service training of law enforcement officers across Indiana.

The Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board serves as the governing body of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy and its satellite academies throughout the state. It is composed of law enforcement leaders, members of the judiciary, educators, and community representatives from across Indiana. The board is chaired by Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott.

“I am honored to have been selected to serve on the Law Enforcement Training Board,” said Sheriff Robinson. “I’ve always maintained that quality in law enforcement is a process, not an exercise in detecting defects. That process begins with who we recruit, how we train them, and whether we hold them accountable long after they leave the academy. Indiana’s citizens deserve officers who are well-trained, disciplined, and guided by moral character, and I intend to bring that commitment to the Training Board.”

Robinson is serving his term as the 55th Sheriff of Vanderburgh County and has worked in law enforcement for 27 years. The academy he will help oversee has operated as Indiana’s center for law enforcement education since 1975.
