The United States Senate has unanimously passed a bipartisan resolution introduced by Senators Todd Young and Chris Coons to designate February 15-22, 2025, as National FFA Week. This resolution underscores the National FFA Organization’s role in shaping future leaders through educational and career opportunities for students. It also marks the 75th anniversary of President Harry S. Truman signing a bill that granted a federal charter to FFA, highlighting the importance of agricultural education in the U.S.

Senator Young expressed his support, stating, “FFA plays a critical role in the development of students through agricultural education. The lessons, tools, and resources gained through the FFA program equip Indiana’s future leaders with the skills needed to succeed in a variety of fields.” He added his satisfaction in leading this initiative for more than 14,000 Hoosier FFA members.

Senator Coons emphasized the significance of agricultural programs offered by Delaware FFA and the National FFA Organization: “Young Delawareans learn to meet today’s agricultural challenges and prepare for tomorrow’s opportunities.” He praised the passing of this bipartisan resolution which honors “this vital organization and its talented educators and members who will become the next generation of leaders.”

National FFA Advisor Dr. Travis Park remarked on National FFA Week as an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on agricultural education’s impact: “It’s a time of celebration and reflection as FFA members, advisors, and supporters come together to honor the impact of this extraordinary organization.”

In Indiana alone, there are 230 FFA chapters with nearly 14,500 members supported by over 360 agricultural educators.

Alongside Senators Young and Coons, several other senators co-sponsored this resolution. Additionally, Representatives Tracey Mann, Jimmy Panetta, Glenn Thompson, and Suzanne Bonamici have introduced a companion resolution in the House.
