The United States Senate has unanimously approved a resolution to designate February 21-28, 2026, as National FFA Week. The measure was introduced by Senators Todd Young (R-Ind.) and Chris Coons (D-Del.), with support from a bipartisan group of senators.

The resolution recognizes the National FFA Organization’s contribution to preparing students for leadership roles and providing educational and career opportunities in agriculture.

“FFA plays a critical role in the development of students through agricultural education. The lessons, tools, and resources gained through the FFA program equip Indiana’s future leaders with the skills needed to succeed in a variety of fields,” said Senator Young. “I’m glad to lead this resolution establishing National FFA Week in support of the more than 14,000 Hoosier FFA members.”

Senator Coons added, “Future Farmers of America provides young Delawareans with a community and a purpose, while teaching them the skills they need for the jobs the First State needs. Agriculture is the backbone of our downstate economy, and FFA’s investment in the next generation is key to preparing them for the opportunities of tomorrow. I’m proud to support them here in the Senate and at home in Delaware.”

National FFA Advisor Dr. Travis Park commented on the importance of recognizing National FFA Week: “National FFA Week is a time when we showcase the collective impact of FFA nationwide. Throughout FFA, we see our members stepping up as leaders, innovators, and advocates for agriculture. We know this happens, thanks to the dedication of agricultural teachers, FFA Alumni & Supporters, and our many partners. This week, National FFA Week, is when we celebrate the collective agricultural education ecosystem.”

Indiana has over 230 local chapters with more than 14,000 student members and over 360 agricultural educators.

Senators from both parties joined Young and Coons in supporting this resolution.

Senator Young has also addressed issues such as affordable housing and veterans’ support according to his official website. He has focused on conservative policies related to national security, economic growth, housing affordability, veterans’ issues and artificial intelligence (source). His committee assignments have included Finance; Commerce, Science and Transportation; Small Business and Entrepreneurship; as well as Intelligence (details). He holds degrees from several institutions including U.S. Naval Academy and University of Chicago (background). Senator Young serves Indiana through multiple offices across the state (locations) and has championed legislation like the CHIPS and Science Act aimed at strengthening U.S. semiconductor production (legislation).
