The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office announced on April 22 that a second person has been arrested following an early morning shooting in the 300 block of Norma Drive.
Authorities say the incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. when deputies responded to reports of multiple gunshots. Michael Dortch was previously taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
Detectives identified Krisshaun Saunders as another individual involved in the shooting after gathering additional suspect information. Investigators located a white Jeep Renegade believed to be connected to the incident at a nearby residence. The vehicle matched witness descriptions and showed damage consistent with gunfire, including a bullet hole on its passenger side. The Jeep was secured and towed for further examination pending a search warrant.
Sheriff’s officials report that detectives interviewed Saunders after he was found and brought to the Operations Center. During questioning, Saunders admitted his involvement in the confrontation with Dortch and acknowledged firing a weapon in Dortch’s direction while several people were nearby, which posed significant risk of injury or death.
Saunders, age 26 from Evansville, Indiana, was booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of attempted murder (Level 1 felony) and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon (Level 5 felony). Authorities remind that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue their work related to this case.
