U.S. Representative Erin Houchin joined Legit Decisions Printing in Greendale for a Small Business Challenge event, according to a June 1 announcement. Owners Heather and Nick Gilbertson, along with employee Kelly Armbrust, guided the Congresswoman through the daily operations of their print shop.
Nick Gilbertson said, “I think some people are born knowing they are going to run a business, and that is how I have always felt.” The Gilbertsons explained that their business began in a small room inside their house in 2022 before moving to its current location in Greendale in 2024. They offer high-quality print jobs as well as design and embroidery services.
The article highlighted the impact of the 20% Small Business Deduction on their operations. The deduction has been described as providing significant benefits for businesses like theirs by offering certainty to plan and invest. Representative Houchin supported legislation making this deduction permanent, noting its importance for local enterprises. The National Federation of Independent Business advocated strongly for this policy change.
Indiana is projected to gain 27,000 new jobs annually over the next decade if the Small Business Deduction remains in place, with an annual GDP increase of $1.4 billion during the first ten years and $2.8 billion per year beyond 2035.
“Being a small business owner is a unique experience, and we appreciate Representative Houchin for spending time with one of our Indiana small businesses,” said National Federation of Independent Business Indiana State Director Natalie Carroll.
The National Federation of Independent Business supports Indiana communities by promoting the small business sector, represents owners through advocacy and education efforts across Indiana, engages with the Indiana General Assembly on policy priorities important to entrepreneurs, holds nonprofit and nonpartisan status, and serves as a leading advocacy organization for small businesses, according to the official website.
