State Representative Tim O’Brien said on May 4 that the Evansville Region is showing strong economic performance, based on new findings from the Purdue Center for Regional Development.
The report indicates that the Evansville Region is ahead of other regions in Indiana when it comes to gross domestic product growth and worker productivity. O’Brien said these results point to a robust workforce, business expansion, and a shift toward more high-paying jobs in the area.
“We’re seeing firsthand how the region’s workforce and infrastructure support expansion. That’s why companies are choosing to invest here,” O’Brien said. “These findings show that the Evansville Region’s business-friendly environment is translating into stronger growth and better opportunities for residents.”
According to the report, there has also been ongoing growth in micro and small business establishments within the region, which reflects increased local ownership and investment. The occupational mix continues to change as well, with positive worker increases in both blue- and white-collar occupations.
“Evansville is quickly becoming one of Indiana’s most productive and fastest growing regional economies thanks to years of targeted investments, from education and workforce development to supporting infrastructure expansion,” O’Brien said. “That progress is being driven by a strong workforce, expanding business base and industries that support long-term economic growth.”
