State Rep. Beau Baird welcomed students from Putnam and Montgomery counties to the Statehouse as part of the Indiana House Page Program during the 2026 legislative session, according to a May 15 announcement.
The program gives students an opportunity to learn about state government by participating in legislative activities at the Statehouse. Students were able to interact with lawmakers and staff, tour the building, and observe proceedings on the House floor.
“Some of the best public servants started out by just showing up and paying attention,” Baird said. “The page program is where your curiosity can turn into engagement.”
During their visit, participants experienced a day in the life of a legislator and saw how laws are made firsthand.
Information about applying for next year’s program is available for students ages 13 to 18 at indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram.
Baird said that programs like this help young people become more engaged citizens.
