The Notre Dame men’s tennis team has secured a spot in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, according to an April 27 announcement from the program. This marks the team’s 29th appearance in the tournament over the past 36 years.
The Fighting Irish will travel to Champaign, where they are set to face Vanderbilt in the opening round. The regional is hosted by Illinois, which holds the No. 14 seed. Notre Dame enters as the No. 23 ranked team with a season record of 21-7, while Vanderbilt stands at No. 24 with a record of 17-12. If Notre Dame advances, it will play either Illinois or Yale in the second round.
Earlier this season, Notre Dame defeated both Illinois and Yale but has not played Vanderbilt since losing to them in a close match during the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Notre Dame’s performance this spring included achieving more than twenty regular-season wins for the first time since 2007 and recording its best conference finish—third place—since joining its current league before the start of the 2013-14 season. The Irish also reached their conference tournament semifinals for only the second time ever and have maintained a top-25 national ranking for ten consecutive weeks.
Leading players include Sebastian Dominko and Perry Gregg, both recognized as All-Atlantic Coast Conference honorees for their performances this year. Dominko has compiled a singles record of fourteen wins and four losses this spring and earned two victories against top-25 opponents on his way to qualifying for individual national championships. Gregg leads with sixteen dual match singles victories and an overall mark of twenty-six wins.
Three additional players—Luis Llorens Saracho, Peter Nad, and Kyran Magimay—have each recorded double-digit dual match wins this spring season as well.
Dominko and Gregg are currently ranked among national doubles teams after posting six wins together; Llorens Saracho and Nad also hold national rankings following twelve dual match doubles victories as partners.
Head coach Ryan Sachire will be making his seventh NCAA appearance leading Notre Dame’s program.
