The Notre Dame baseball team will travel to Michigan State for a game against the Spartans on April 22. The matchup is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time at Jeff Ishbia Field at McLane Stadium and will be broadcast on BTN.
This contest marks the second meeting between the two teams this season, with Michigan State having won their previous encounter 7-4 at Frank Eck Stadium. The Irish trail in the all-time series, with a record of 61 wins and 84 losses against the Spartans. Michigan State is one of nine teams that Notre Dame has faced more than one hundred times in program history.
Notre Dame’s roster features a mix of experience and new talent. Sixteen players return from last year’s squad, which finished its regular season with a strong run, winning sixteen out of its last eighteen games. Seven transfer student-athletes have joined for the current season, including five graduate students. Additionally, twelve true freshmen are part of this year’s team; six were ranked among the top two recruits in their state at their respective positions.
Several individual players have earned preseason recognition by D1baseball.com for their performances or potential by position: Bino Watters (first baseman), Jack Radel (starting pitcher), Mark Quatrani (catcher), Drew Berkland (outfielder), Oisin Lee (relief pitcher), and Davis Johnson (outfielder). Sophomore Caden Crowell was also ranked ninth on D1Baseball’s Freshman Impact List for 2026.
Head coach Shawn Stiffler recently became just the seventh coach in program history to achieve over one hundred wins while leading Notre Dame’s baseball program.
