Mexican national sentenced for illegal reentry after prior removals

Eli Martinez-Martinez, a 39-year-old Mexican national, has been sentenced to time served after pleading guilty to felony reentry of a removed alien. The sentencing took place in Hammond before United States District Court Judge Philip P. Simon, according to an announcement from United States Attorney Adam L. Mildred.

Martinez-Martinez had been detained since his arrest on September 5, 2025. He was previously removed from the United States in both 2011 and 2022.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kevin F. Wolff.
