The Indiana General Assembly’s Legislative Council assigned on May 13 topics for lawmakers to study during the 2026 legislative interim, according to Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston.
The selection of these topics is intended to give legislators an opportunity to research and discuss issues that affect residents before the next legislative session. The agenda this year includes child safety, funding sources for childcare, a review of workforce programs, property tax assessments, and other matters.
“During study committees, we can vet legislative ideas, hear from Hoosiers impacted by policies and prepare for the next session,” Huston said. “We’re continuing to focus on making government more efficient, lowering costs for Hoosiers and supporting working families.”
House and Senate leaders will assign members to each study committee in the coming weeks. The interim committees will be chaired by the House this year and are scheduled to meet during the summer and fall months as preparation for the 2027 session of the General Assembly.
A resolution outlining all assigned topics has been made available.
