The Indiana Department of Transportation announced that 74 INDOT workers have lost their lives in service to Hoosiers since 1969. The department highlighted the story of Mark Shepherdson, who died in March 2009 while operating an arrow board truck in a work zone.

According to the announcement, Shepherdson’s crewmate Tim continues to work for INDOT and carries on the memory of his fallen friend. The department said it maintains a page dedicated to employees who have lost their lives while serving Indiana citizens.

The remembrance comes as part of ongoing efforts to honor those who have died while working for INDOT. The department encourages the public to visit its memorial page for more information about these employees.

More details can be found in the organization’s official announcement on Facebook.
