Elevance Health announced on May 27 that it is advancing efforts to improve healthcare access by addressing the digital divide, with programs such as Get Connected for Health and services offered by its subsidiary CareBridge. The company said these initiatives are designed to provide individuals, especially in underserved communities, with the tools, connectivity, and support needed to better manage their healthcare.

Saurabh Tandon, Chief Experience Officer at Elevance Health, said, “Consumer experience is about meeting people where they are and simplifying their healthcare journey. By expanding access to digital tools and services, we are helping remove barriers that can prevent individuals from getting the care they need.”

Get Connected for Health offers eligible members a smartphone preloaded with health apps and unlimited data at no cost. The program aims to address challenges faced by those lacking broadband or reliable devices by providing connectivity and educational resources to improve digital literacy. Collaboration with telecommunications providers allows this initiative to reach hundreds of thousands of members across multiple states.

CareBridge supports individuals enrolled in Medicaid plans or Dual-Special Needs Plans through cellular-enabled tablets connecting patients directly with care teams via video, chat, or text in multiple languages. This platform provides 24/7 virtual care access and incorporates care coordination and real-time support. Devices are designed for accessibility; clinicians collectively speak 19 languages and offer support in more than 300 additional languages.

Together, these programs reflect Elevance Health’s approach of embedding digital equity into its care model while aiming for more accessible healthcare experiences across income levels and geographies. Tandon added, “As healthcare continues to evolve, digital access will play an increasingly central role in outcomes and experience. Our goal is to make sure no one is left behind.”

According to the official website of Elevance Health, the company promotes equity and inclusion within its operations; is recognized as a leading employer for veterans; reaches millions through its network of affiliated health plans; focuses on enhancing well-being by tackling physical, behavioral, and social factors while simplifying healthcare for communities; provides comprehensive health services aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration; and operates as a major player in the health sector.
