Daniel Jones, quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, said on May 28 that his recovery from a torn Achilles has required both physical and mental perseverance. The injury occurred during the Colts’ Week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2025, causing him to miss the final four games of the season.
Jones participated in an organized team activity practice on Wednesday, where he was able to snap the ball and drop back during individual drills. He also ran up and down the field several times as part of his ongoing rehabilitation efforts. Throughout his recovery, Jones has worked closely with the Colts’ training staff and remained involved with team activities, including film sessions.
“You feel more a part of it,” Jones said about being able to participate again. “Being part of the walkthroughs and going through the plays, it feels more like you’re back in the swing of things.”
Jones addressed some of the mental challenges associated with long-term injuries such as his own. “It’s the patience to stick with the process,” he said about what he’s learned mentally over recent months. “Parts of it are tough, but it’s a different way of training and enjoying an offseason that I enjoyed a lot of aspects of.”
Colts head coach Shane Steichen acknowledged Jones’s dedication throughout his rehabilitation process. “When you rehab like he rehabs and put in the work like he does, it’s pretty impressive,” Steichen said, “People talk about the fastest way to recover, and it’s by doing the rehab process. He’s relentless at that and he’s doing a hell of a job with it.”
