Ball State University announced on Apr. 22 that it has reached its $350 million fundraising goal for the ‘Our Call to Beneficence’ campaign, with efforts set to continue through June 30, 2027.
The milestone highlights broad support from alumni and donors and signals ongoing momentum as the university moves into the next phase of its largest fundraising effort. The campaign aims to support student opportunity and success, enhance academic programs, and expand campus facilities.
“Reaching our $350 million goal is a significant milestone for Ball State University and a reflection of the generosity of our graduates, friends, and benefactors,” said Geoffrey S. Mearns, president of Ball State University. “Their support is creating more opportunities for our students, strengthening the distinctive academic experiences we provide, and continuing the transformation of our campus. Even as we celebrate this achievement, we know that there is still much more we will do before this campaign concludes.”
Campaign contributions have provided over $143 million toward student-focused initiatives such as scholarships and special programs; more than $64 million has gone toward expanding academic offerings; over $110 million supports new or renovated facilities including a Performing Arts Center linked to a revitalization project in The Village area near campus. Randy Pond, chair of the executive campaign council said: “As a first-generation college student, I know personally that philanthropy creates opportunity… This milestone reflects the generosity, loyalty, and commitment of so many people who care deeply about Ball State and its future. It also shows what is possible when graduates and friends come together to invest in students, strengthen academic excellence, and support the University’s mission.”
Ball State serves more than 20,000 students across seven academic colleges according to its official website. The university has produced over 200,000 alumni worldwide according to official information.
The institution secures funding through large-scale campaigns like this one alongside state investments exceeding $210 million for facilities according to official sources. Its resources include classrooms and labs as well as sports fields—the Health Professions Building—and plans are underway for further expansion with projects like the Performing Arts Center as described by Ball State.
Jean Crosby—president of both Ball State’s Foundation & Alumni Association—said: “Our Call to Beneficence is about more than reaching a number… It is about creating opportunities for students… sustaining momentum that will carry our University forward.” The university emphasizes an inclusive environment guided by Beneficence values intended to prepare students for community service and global impact according to its website. Ball State has earned recognition as a top-tier Midwest institution known for economic mobility among graduates as noted officially.
The final phase of fundraising will focus on additional scholarship support along with faculty innovation until June 2027.
