Cortes: 'Diego Morales stands as a warrior willing to guard our election processes'

Indiana’s Republican convention of delegates this weekend will select the party’s nominee for Secretary of State. I will be there making the case for my friend Diego Morales, who has my enthusiastic endorsement.

Secretary of State races across the country have never been more critical than right now, given the paramount importance of securing accurate and transparent elections. The systemic problems of the 2020 revealed an election process in America that betrays fundamental principles of due process, the rule of law, and just plain common sense. The manipulations of mass mail-in voting and drop boxes combined with the brazen censorship of Big Tech regarding key election issues to create widespread doubt about the official elections results.

Thankfully, Diego Morales stands as a warrior willing to guard our election processes with the same fervor he displayed when he volunteered for the US Army and served our country in uniform. Specifically, Diego advocates for a return to “game day” in-person voting on election day, except for those with valid excuses such as hospitalization or military deployment, as well as a requirement for valid photo ID for all voters.

Diego has worked incredibly hard in this primary campaign, meeting Hoosiers all over the state. He clearly loves Indiana, the state that welcomed him as a legal immigrant, providing him the opportunity to graduate with degrees from both Indiana University and Purdue University.

In addition, Diego represents a new cadre of Latino leaders in our country who rally to the political right -- and form a new wave of adherents to the America First platform. I encourage the delegates of Indiana’s GOP to select Diego Morales as the candidate for Secretary of State.
